brain tired

I find that eating bars for a snack makes for a very weary picture.

DSC_0008

Excusez-moi. I shall endeavor to be more creative in the future. Sometimes my brain is just too tired.

I did read an interesting fact in Women’s Health while riding the stationary bike this evening. Women’s Health states that if your brain is fatigued that you in turn feel more physically fatigued. Wonder how much money was spent on that survey? I could have given you that result right from my living room for a discreet fee.

After the gym + sauna [who loves the sauna? Whit loves the sauna!] I cooked up a delicious Mexican style breakfast for dinner. Although I am almost positive that actual residents of the country of Mexico would not eat this for either breakfast or dinner; I am still calling it of Mexican origin.

DSC_0021

Omelet + Chips and salsa!

[It’s the chips and salsa that make it Mexican. The omelet is the breakfast part.]

DSC_0026

In my messy omelet I had:

  • 3 egg whites
  • spinach
  • tomato
  • chickpeas
  • feta cheese

nom nom nom.

DSC_0022

BLUE! chips make me excited for life.

But it’s ice cream that makes me get out of bed every day.

DSC_0041

Mint chocolate chip ice cream, in fact.

Is there a better flavor anywhere? [What kind of question is that?!?! OF COURSE NOT!]

Mint chocolate chip has been my favorite ice cream forever and ever. If in doubt, I ALWAYS order mint chocolate chip. It has never failed me in all my 23 years.

In fact, I’ll put it to the test. What ice cream flavor beats mint chocolate chip?

Are you a peanut butter lover? Oreo? Plain ol’ vanilla or chocolate? Tell me. What flavor do you think beats out mint chocolate chip?

Yo! ;)

Glad everyone enjoyed our pumpkin carving festivities. ‘Twas a night to be remembered indeed. If you are looking to throw a pah-tay I suggest pumpkin carving as a theme, indeed.

This morn I could not think of a quickie breakfast I wanted more than toast.

So toast it was.

DSC_0007

And what a toast!

Strawberry + Ricotta toast and plain Butter toast.

Both come strongly recommended from my toast lovin’ mouth.

Lunchi was exciting, because guess who remembered their pasta sauce from last week?

ME, that’s who!

So I had a Hugh Jass bowl of carb loading 15 mile running pasta.

DSC_0008

AND, although it looks to have no veggies, it’s fooling you.

DSC_0013

DSC_0015

There’s an entire carrot and a zucchini in that sucka!

Now it’s work, work, work and gym lata! Gotta work those kinks out of these legs.

Cheery

You know what would make me really cheery?

A S’more Z-bar up in this joint.

But alas, they are cleverly hiding from me, so I picked up a Luna S’more instead.

Recently Updated

But I don’t think that’s really the same.

It doesn’t have that cute Halloween packaging.

Anyway, these flowers cheered me up.

DSC_0044 DSC_0043

Because they are quite lovely, that is why.

And then this dinner did much more than cheer me up.

DSC_0063

It also filled me up.

  • Organic Ragu
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 1 grated zucchini
  • 1/2 can garbanzo beans
  • 1/4 onion

Serve over whole wheat penne and top with feta cheese.

Pros:

  • Makes 2 meals
  • Delicious

Cons:

  • Dirties multiple pots

The pros far outweigh the cons in this case.

***

Also making me cheery: Bublé singing ‘Heartache Tonight’. :D

Well I know everyone has just been on pins and needles waiting to hear whether I actually got up and went to spin class this morning.

I know I was.

The answer is, I DID. And it was wondrous. Might be a new Thursday routine. Except I don’t really like getting ready for work in the gym locker room, but that’s a small price to pay for getting my work out in early.

Plus, Starbucks is nearby, so I could have breakfast there on Thursdays. Now that’s a temptation.

Today though, I had a slice of banana bread I packed.

DSC_0006

Plus a giant mug of coffee.

DSC_0002

And then my boss offered me half a blueberry scone, which I promptly gobbled up.

DSC_0021

That was all well and good and delicious.

Now lunch.

Well lunch on the other hand, I have been having a hard time getting excited for lately.

I literally never want anything to eat at lunch time.

And I just pick at my food.

Much like I am doing to this salad currently.

DSC_0028

I mean, it’s such a pretty salad.

DSC_0031

Why don’t I want to eat it?

I did eat this apple.

DSC_0024

But I didn’t love it.

And I have eaten this half of a bagel.

DSC_0026

Meh, didn’t really care for that either.

And an apple and a bagel does not a lunch make.

An apple and a bagel just =  a lot of carbs.

DSC_0023

Look at that pretty lunch!

But I just don’t have any appetite for it. In fact I am quite miserable about it.

I used to love lunch. Lunch was the highlight of my day.

And now that love is just gone. Gone. Gone.

Like the wind.

Gone.

Behold the return of…

MR Z-BAR!!!!

Sorry to say that Mr. Z-bar did not do anything interesting today. I was too busy working.

And then I got busy going to the gym.

Pushups, crunches and an hour on the treadmill.

Can hardly walk or use my upper body.

Ah, well it’s all for a greater good, right? ;)

Since I didn’t get to have oatmeal at breakfast, I chose that for dinner.

DSC_0020

Spicy, spinachy, eggy oatmeal!

DSC_0022

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 3/4 cup water
  • feta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • hot sauce

DSC_0035

Runny yolk = love. ♥

****

6 am spin class in the morning! Fingers crossed that I don’t oversleep again!

Could have…

I could have gotten up on time this morning.

Instead I overslept.

I could have had oatmeal for breakfast this morning.

Instead I reheated pumpkin pancakes.

DSC_0002

And topped them with maple syrup.

DSC_0004

Had I not overslept I could have gotten to work on time.

I could have eaten leftover stir fry for lunch today.

DSC_0033

But I had to make the call.

DSC_0012

Panera it was.

DSC_0016

Soup and salad it was.

DSC_0021

The bread? They threw that in as extra.

Maybe because it could have been sunny today.

But instead it’s rainy.

10.14.09

I could whine about that.

But I’ll just eat my bread instead.

Plan A

My Larabar grew a ‘fro.

DSC_0004

But she seems pretty happy with it, so I let it go.

DSC_0003

After work I scrambled to get to CharlotteOne, and low and behold I actually got there on time!!

What! What!

I never do that!

CharlotteOne was amazing, but I’ll get to that in a moment.

Dinner was an SIAB [Kath speak for Smoothie In A Bowl]

DSC_0015

I happily dumped a muffin in that thing.

Muffins go with everything.

DSC_0026

My smoothie consisted of:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 a bag of spinach
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 1 spoonful PB
  • coffee (!!!)
  • almond milk
  • ice

It had a lovely mocha flavor. I was mucho excited about adding the coffee. SCORE!!!

On the side I had some crunchy + crispy grapes.

DSC_0039

Yes, they are freshly washed, but are they clean?

That is the million dollar question, because I did indeed spy some dirt on one even though I vigorously ran water over them.

Wash fail.

***

At CharlotteOne tonight the topic was Epic Fail. It’s the same topic that we talked about last week, but this week it hit really close to home.

I am sure that we all have had at least one epic fail in our lifetime, or else you must be living under a rock somewhere, which would be an epic fail in and of itself. Rocks are darn uncomfortable. Plus, I just don’t know that they make very good homes.

Anyway, Dave [the worship leader] started out by saying ‘God is bigger than your epic fail.’ Wow. Just wow.

I posted that to twitter, and honestly you guys, I don’t always think twice about what I post on twitter, but I was so surprised to see that get RT [retweeted] several times.

One girl put ‘I needed this today’ in front of her RT.

It just brought a huge smile to my face to see the response to that, because we all do have epic fails, but in truth God is bigger than any epic fail we make.

Not only that, but he forgives us our failures and shortcomings and makes something great from it.

Remember God’s Plan is always Plan A for you. Not Plan B or C.

If you are living Plan B, why?

What’s stopping you from living your dream?

Get out there and do it. God has your back.

Me?

I’m doing some soul searching and figuring out just what Plan A is.

I’ll let you know. ;)

Breaking News!!!!

Thanks to the lovely and wonderful Jeannie for teaching me the secret behind that elusive é. [hold the alt key and press 1 3 0 on the number pad] Voilá! é!!!

So as soon as Michael Bublé breaks up with his model girlfriend, we can get married.

****

Also making my day was a jar of oatmeal.

DSC_0005

Oatmeal:

  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 scoop protein powder

Topping:

  • 1 banana muffin

DSC_0003

mmmmm

I’m multitasking it at lunch today.

  • checking e-mails
  • catching up on google reader
  • posting
  • eating

DSC_0007

Lunch at my desk!

DSC_0018

How fun!

And vegetable stir fry too!

DSC_0008

DSC_0010

DSC_0012

Never had that before!

DSC_0015

Well on a plate anyway. ;)

Go To Stir Fry:

  • Tempeh
  • Pepper
  • Zuke
  • Carrot
  • Corn
  • Peas
  • Onion

Or a variation of such.

****

Two Question Tuesday:

1.) What’s your go to easy lunch?

See above ^ for my answer.

2.) Who’s your celeb crush?

Mine varies, but it’s usually a singer. Something about a man with a sexy voice…oh my.

In answer to the question [although it’s obvious] right now it’s Bublé.

Boo-bull

Well my lunch may have not been very fall, but I will tell you what is.

DSC_0005

Honeycrisp apple with cinnamon!

And 1/2 a chocolate chip bagel.

DSC_0001

Which makes for a VERY filling snack. And a VERY delicious snack.

After work I went to the gym, which once again I have sorely missed. I love how after a hiatus from the gym, it feels a fresh and new again. And the machines seem so fun! Can you tell I was excited? I was.

I did a quick strength training sesh which went like so:

  • 15 leg presses
  • 12 leg curls
  • 12 leg extension
  • 15 hanging abs
  • 10 push ups
  • 10 press and fly combo
  • 20 bicycle crunches

I did this lovely circuit x3 and then I hit the treadmill, which I used to dread [dreadmill, anyone, anyone?] but suddenly I love.

My treadmill workout went like this:

  • .5 mile @ 9 min mile pace
  • 1.5 mile @ 8.5 min mile pace
  • 1.5 mile @ 7 min mile sprints [30 seconds each]

‘Twas wondrous, and I was a sweaty beast. I will be back soon for more. Tomorrow, maybe even.

One other thing I had missed about the gym? The social aspect. I used to know everyone in there, and now I haven’t been in 3 months and it’s like I’m a newcomer. I know no one.

It’s like the first day of school all over again.

Except I was homeschooled, so I always knew everyone.

But you get my point.

My point is, I ate dinner.

But it was more like breakfast.

DSC_0013

Chobani, granola + muffin

Which was really ok, since I only had toast for breakfast this morning.

DSC_0016

Blue Chobs was just what the doctor ordered.

DSC_0023

Along with a side of fresh muffin.

mmmm.

Lovely.

In other news, I am deeply saddened to hear that I have to fight all of you guys for the affections of one Michael Buble.

:(

Sad news indeed.

But then again, I probably am not really in the running.

Because I have no idea how to make my computer do the accent mark over the e in his last name.

Why, if we were to be married everyone would be calling me Whitney Boo-bull instead of Whitney Boo-blay.

All because of a stinking accent mark.

And that would never do.

Never.

Nothing special here.

DSC_0003

Buttered toast.

‘Twas my breakfast, yes indeed.

And then when I got to the office, I had a coffee.

DSC_0007

Well, a rather large coffee.

And for lunch, I packed something I haven’t had in a while.

DSC_0022

Mixing Bowl Salad.

DSC_0017

Hugh Jass Salad.

DSC_0018

Strawberry Poppyseed Salad.

DSC_0019

DSC_0029

And well, salad is not really a fall food.

Fall is more for soup. And cider. And hot chocolate.

Not really salad.

Especially fruity salad.

DSC_0027

With fruit on the side.

DSC_0008

But regardless, that’s what I had.

And that’s what I ate.

Tell me. What foods make you think of fall?

****

Currently obsessed with:

Thanks to blog reader Ava, for recommending this song, and Meghan for letting me know the video was on Youtube. Love.
