oh my.
cherry pie.
This was my first time trying the cherry pie Larabar, and it was quite TART! I liked it though. Tart suits me. ;)
Today was a day of many firsts. It was also the first time I ever prepared tofu.
Once again, a pleasant surprise!
I prepared two sauces, a hot sauce, and a soy sauce.
I just dumped olive oil and random spices in each one, but they turned out really well. After draining and pressing the tofu, I rubbed the sauce on each piece and baked it for 30+ minutes on 375. (While that was going on, I snacked on a few blue chips.) I ended up baking way more than I ate, so prepare to see a good bit of tofu over the next few days.
With my tofu I had reheated green beans. YESSSS!
They were actually pretty good as far as reheated vegs go.
I also had two slices of pineapple.
This was a definite yes. Pineapple makes me happy.
This whole plate made me happy, actually. Very happy. I was so proud of my tofu baking skills.
Thanks for the tips, Caitlin! I also definitely hit up Ms. Kath and Ms. Gliding Calmβs blogs for tips as well. They have very good instructionals if you are a tofu newbie like me.
After my tofu I tried another new dessert, but it was a big fat fail, so letβs pretend like that little guy did not happen. Instead I fell back on an old favorite.
Dates + PB! I remembered to pick up dates at the grocery store! Good thing I did, cause those are the only kind of dates Iβve been getting lately. π
Alright, Iβm off to find something to keep me occupied until bedtime. Like yoga. That would be nice.
thanks for the shout out mama!!!!! π
I made and ATE tofu for the first time on Saturday using Caitlin’s blog as a reference. I loved it π
The cherry pie Larabar is tart, but it is damn good if you ask me!
I need to try dates, still haven’t had them. Looks nummy though.
Enjoy your evening!

Yay for tofu!!! And yoga is definitely nice before bedtime π
You may have inspired me to try baking my own tofu! I really want to try it, but I’m scared!
YAY! I’m having tofu tonight as well π I love it with just cooking spray on, or SF syrup! Weird, but TASTY!!!!!
Get it girl! way to try out some new things! π always makes me feel real adventurous and awesome about branching out! π

Congrats on a successful first Tofu experience. This can go one of two ways, very good or quite disasterous, and looks like you mastered the very good! π
I love the fall back desserts. I sometimes get creative with a new sweet idea but then with one taste, I realize it’s totally not worth it to waste my dessert snack on something less than spectacular. Dates and PB are a great fall back!
I was scared the first time I tried to make tofu as well. It was surprisingly easy! I’m glad you liked it too π
Mmm, mmm dates & nut butter.
Enjoy the yoga, for sure!
Congrats on your tofu success – that first time can sure be scary and weird but totally worth it!
I’m scared to make the ‘fu on my own! I guess I need to get it together and try one of these days…
why do i have a strong feeling all of these firsts prob. won’t be your lasts!?
haha I don’t even get that kind of date! mmm glad you like the cp larabar. def not my fav so if I ever get any of them suckas I’ll know who to forward them on to!
tofu scares me!
but peanut butter on anything is delish.
Good job on the tofu, I always end up baking it too long and throw it away or something else goes wrong! I’ll have to go check out some different ways to bake it.
I need to try the Cherry Pie, I’ve never had that one! I love the tart ones!
I tried my first Cherry Pie Larabar just a couple of days ago! I liked it…but super tart and super sweet at the same time. π
I could use some dates, too. In any shape or form…
That larabar is so good… I love it!
Congrats on your first tofu baking experience! π
I need to pick up some more dates!!! Good stuff!
have a great night!
I liked cherry pie larabar too, just got the pb &j and the tropical tart one at Whole Foods tonight, can’t wait to try them!
Never tried tofu yet so glad I know where to come when I do brave it:)
I need to make some tofu soon too to get over my fear of it, maybe this week….
Thanks for the tofu tips! I was JUST going to comment on your tofu making experience after reading your entry today, when I then saw the feedback you gave me to my tofu recipe question on my blog entry…..how ironic! Did you happen to use your Nasoya coupon from the summit?! ; ) I’m looking forward to making it!
PS. Totally bummed we didn’t met at the summit in person! I feel like you, Casey, and I would have had a blast meeting each other!
Love your blog by the way!
And I loveeeee the cherry larabar, but I just tried the Coconut creme pie – to die for!
i need to learn how to make tofu!!! and yes, pineapple also makes me really happy. in addition, dates (the fruit kind) are the only ones i’m getting too π
love you lady!
Omg I am DROOLING over your food!!! Like actually dying over here in da dorm room because I am craving TOFU and protein like mad!!! Salad with no good toppings suck and I NEED HUMMUS and DATES and PB!!!! I need a grocery store near me! SHOOOO!
I have my very first Cherry Pie lara just waiting for me in the pantry! Glad you liked it.
I also spend maybe 20 minutes contemplating whether or not to buy tofu this weekend. I chickened out. Too bad because yours looks awesome!
Def agree with you on the pineapple=happiness front… Ever have it in fried rice?? Might be one of the greatest combos ever, slash the best way to make some healthy, well, not healthy… Whatevs
