yo yo yoguuuurrrt

I have seriously been missing yogurt in my life.

Last night I realized this travesty, and stocked up on my favorite flavors, honey and vanilla.

I couldn’t wait to break into my carton of honey for a snack this afternoon.

Along with a spoonful of pb. PB and honey yogurt? Yes, please.

After work I scurried home with intentions of working out, but then I felt lazy, so I read People mag instead. Plus I did not want to get all sweaty and have to shower before I went to meet Jeannie for fro yo.

What can I say? Lazy.

And yes, I did say fro yo.

Fuzzy picture of yog, strawbs, pineapple and coconutty!

Yeah, I had yogurt twice in a row. No shame. No shame.

No actual dinner either.

‘Twas lovely. 😀

ya dig?

I really like this jacket I’m wearing today:

Ya dig?

Of course, it doesn’t actually belong to me. But then, what are sisters for, if not to borrow clothes from?

Thought so.

I also like bfast cookies.

‘Specially pumpkin bfast cookies. 😉

That kind of look like flowers.

  • pumpkin pureé
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • almond butter

I topped it with greek yog and a dollop of White Chocolate Wonderful PB. Party in my mouth, yo!

I haven’t really done anything else of note this morning, other than eat that beauty, so let’s get straight to lunch, shall we?

Lovely leftovers.

Mama D’s reheated clam chowder, which is basically heaven in a bowl.

Frozen broccoli, microwaved. Which is not heaven, but I love it anyway.

And it’s back to work I gooooo!

National Oatmeal Day

The last of my Spooky S’mores acted as my snack today. 😦

I also had half a bagel:

Because I wanted that thing. And it was delicious.

After work I met Stacey for a run in the gorgeous Dilworth area of Charlotte. We did a 45 minute run in Freedom Park, and it was really nice. Stacey and I run at about the same pace, and it was nice to chat with her and get to know her better. I hadn’t seen her since we met in August, so we had lots to catch up on! I really like hanging out with her, she’s a lot of fun, and we have a good bit in common. Can’t wait until we can do it again!

When I got home, I headed straight for the oatmeal cabinet, so I could celebrate National Oatmeal Day in style!

I finished off my jar of Cinnamon raisin swirl oatmeal in the process.

I adore oats in a jar.

Actually I just adore oats in general.

Why can’t every day be National Oatmeal Day?

With my oatmeal I had another Pink Lady apple.

These apples are really tiny, and perfect for a dessert.

Don’t apples taste so much better when they come straight from the orchard?

This is a carb filled post. Better wrap it up so I can go help my partners in crime work on our halloween costumes!

Two words:

Slept late.

Car bfast.

  • Jam toast
  • Pear butter toast [3 words, but who’s counting?]

Strong coffee.

Still tired.

Sandwich + Apple

Pink lady!

Turkey sandwich.

  • Yellow Mustard
  • Deli Turkey
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Wheat Bread

Turkey Lurkey!

Who else used to read that story about ‘The sky is falling!’ I adored it, and the matchy matchy names of the characters. Henny Penny, Turkey Lurkey, Foxy Woxy…all of them.

What’s the point? Well there really isn’t one, I just thought of it while eating a turkey sandwich for lunch.

What story did you read over and over as a kid?

PS: It’s National Oatmeal Day! Have you had your oatmeal yet? I think it’s obvious what my answer is…savory oats for dinner, perhaps?

Well costume shopping was a success [sort of]! We are going to end up making our costumes. Should be interesting! 😀

This afternoon I had a scone that my boss brought me for a snack:

Scone love.

Then after work I ran a quick 3.5 miles. Lovely. Speedy, because we had our shopping trip planned!

Before we left I had a bossy dinnah that Mama D made.

Stuffed shells. ♥

And a side of broc. I’ve been cheating on spinach. Broccoli is numero uno on my green veggie list right now. J’adore.

I also had this lovely pumpkin muffin:

And this bitty apple:

I must have a hollow leg. 😉

Cool news: Andy Cherry, who leads worship at CharlotteOne, has a single on iTunes! It’s part of a mixed worship album, Catalyst Music Project, and he does a song called Revival’s Fire. You can click here to see what I’m talking about:http://bit.ly/3aQJ8. Pretty awesome, no?

Breakfast. [The courses.]

Because why can’t you have the last of the apple crisp for breakfast? Especially while you are waiting for…

Pumpkin Pie! Saw this on Sarah’s blog, and was dying to recreate it.

In the pie:

  • Pumpkin
  • 1 egg white
  • spices

Microwave for 3 minutes or until pie starts popping the microwave.

  • Ricotta cheese
  • Pumpkin butter

‘Twas like a pumpkin cheese cake for breakfast. I like!

Now for lunch:

You might ask yourself: Is that a desk salad I spy?

And the answer would be: Yes, yes! It’s a desk salad!

A desk salad compliments of McAlister’s Deli. Greek Chicken, in fact.

You might ask me: Was it good?

And I might answer: Yes, indeed.

I might ask: Why do they always send two cartons of dressing?

Isn’t one enough to give you a heart attack?

I also might ask: What should I dress as for Halloween?

To give you a bit of background:

Raggedy Ann. [Red hair = not me.]

Clarence and Maude Fitzgerald. I was Clarence, of course. [I kind of want to be Clarence again. That was THE MOST FUN costume. No one knew who we were!]

Also in 2007:

Bumble bee who escorted Red Riding Hood trick or treating.

Cop, accompanied by a cat and a devil.

Now for 2009…????

Send any suggestions my way, the sis and I are going costume shopping tonight!

S’mores bar, that is!

I finally got around to trying one of the Z-bars Holly sent me for a snack today.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Holly, you adorable little lady, you.

After work, ‘twas CharlotteOne of course! 😀

Our speaker tonight was James-Michael Smith and wow, did his message hit close to home! It was called ‘The Dark Night of the Soul’ and was about dealing with depression. It was, in a word, amazing.

I have touched on my own struggles with depression here, so you guys know what this subject meant to me. I was nearly in tears by the end. I wish I could have heard this message two years ago! It was so ME. I just wanted to go up to the pastor and thank him, but unfortunately I couldn’t find him afterward. It’s just as well, I might have gotten blubbery.

Just a reminder:

If you feel any of these symptoms or emotions, please, please see a doctor immediately. A good therapist can get you through a lot.

  • you can’t sleep or you sleep too much
  • you can’t concentrate or find that previously easy tasks are now difficult
  • you feel hopeless and helpless
  • you can’t control your negative thoughts, no matter how much you try
  • you have lost your appetite or you can’t stop eating
  • you are much more irritable and short-tempered than usual
  • you have thoughts that life is not worth living (Seek help immediately if this is the case)

Remember, you are not alone. You do not have to face this monster alone. Please, ask for help.

Ok, PSA is over.

On a lighter note, here is a gorgeous photo of my friend Powell who went to CharlotteOne with me tonight.

Doesn’t he look convicted with the spirit? 😉 I adore.

Just as I sat down to eat my [unpictured] dinner of a Shrimp + Crab tower [described as: fresh avocado, crab meat, tomato and poached shrimp in lemon mayonnaise. Accompanied by fresh grilled flatbread.] I heard it. You know the noise. The dreaded sound of…a BUTTON popping off your shirt! And in a most pertinent button it was!

I desperately tried to cover it up:

Um, yeah. Not working.

So I treated my new friends to a peep show all during dinner.

So me.

So klassy.
