DST + Link Love

Hello loves, how was your weekend? Mine was lazy + fabulous. Except for that stinky time change of course. Meh, don’t like that. I did finally get my curtains hung in my new room so that I can sleep all night though. That was especially nice.

I made it easy on myself this morning and used up the last of my wilted blueberries in a bowl of Barbara’s Shredded Spoonfuls with almond milk.

I was using soy milk of late because it was on sale, but I picked up almond milk this week. I swear I have used almond milk in my cereal before, but this was disgustingly thick. Has anyone else ever noticed this or did I perhaps get a bad box of almond milk?

Oh well, I ate it anyway.

And two cups of coffee. The large ones. It is now Daylight Savings Time after all and it takes me a week to adjust. Laugh if you want to.

A Morningstar Farms burger with spinach and TJ’s triple layer hummus. Don’t judge if I eat this again tomorrow.

I was SO BUSY this afternoon, I barely got a chance to eat this Z-bar on the fly.

Obviously. I didn’t even move my pen. I love those pens, btw. They always disappear on me too. 😦 The good ones always do.

After work I hurried home because the ONE good thing about DST [Daylight Savings Time] is that it is light outside until 7:30, so I got in a good run plus a gym session, by RUNNING to my gym, working out and RUNNING back. It felt SO GOOD to run outside again. It was like 64 degrees. PERFECT, PERFECT running weather. I have to be honest, between the HORRID burnout I suffered + my post marathon injury I had let my running slide. A lot. Today was good, because it reminded me why I love to run and why I signed up and ran that marathon. When it’s right, it’s just RIGHT.

Unfortunately, my lack of training means that I probably will not be doing the Charlotte Racefest Half Marathon. I just don’t see myself being ready for it. I am though, going to go for the 10k. I haven’t done that distance before and I think it will be a good race to get me ready for some late spring/summer half marathons.

I was in the mood for PROTEIN for dinner, so I fished [oh this is good…] some tilapia out of the freezer that I bought on sale the other week and pan fried it in some olive oil.

But in fact eaten whilst watching old Grey’s reruns on Lifetime. I do think that eating in front of the tv is not optimal, but these days I eat by myself 95% of the time and it’s lonely to eat at an empty table. Much more exciting to dine with Dr. Miranda Bailey and Meredith Grey.

Soooo, I basically ran around all day and my food looks kind of disgusting. Yet it was delicious.

Like my Oikos with granola and blueberries mixed in. How disgusting does that look? Yet it was delicious.

The big news of the day was that a virus has been attacking our computers at work, and today was my turn! VIRUS!! VIRUS!!! And my computer went kind of crazy.

So I ate lunch.

Since my computer was NOT AVAILABLE, I used the time to clean the office and make it shiny. In my heels. Klassy.

And I ate this bar.

Hit up the gym later, [like I really needed to after mopping in heels, but I did it anyway.] Weights + treadmill = sweaty and I soon found myself hungry and in need of a shower.

I took care of both.

Ok, I had possibly the worst start to my day, like, EVER. But it ended up ok in the end. We will get to the end eventually though. Let’s start with the worst.

Woke up. 7:40. K, I am supposed to be, like, LEAVING for work. Nevahmind, I will hurry.

Ok, who cut off the heat? It is like minus 10 with wind chill in my bedroom. See brown sweater. Toss it on.

Run down the stairs, grabbing the PILE of stuff to take with me to work, breakfast, lunch, snack and a package I need to mail.

Run out the door, throw my stuff in the car, including breakfast, which should have been this:

banana, peanut butter and caramel Oikos.

Instead, my yogurt HITS the floor, splattering all over my car rug and up the side of my pants.

Great, I’m going to smell like yogurt all day.

Get to work, make it inside, set down my packages and run back out to get my car rug, so I can wash it before permanent damage is done. [I just realized that I left the rug at work after the washing. FAIL.] Also realize that the WARM BROWN SWEATER is also ITCHY BROWN SWEATER.

Feeling quite stressed, and with the day still new, I proceeded to set Pandora to play Lady Gaga Radio. Which is God’s gift to us on stressful days, I have decided. Seriously, it rocks.

With Gaga in the background I proceeded to calm down, with the help of a few well timed yoga breaths, and eventually get my work done.

LUNCH was worth the trouble it caused me to pack. [Ok, this was the easiest lunch to pack AND make, ever. I’m just being a drama queen.]

Half a head of boston lettuce, naturally fresh ranch, and a black bean burger. Scarfed it down. [And by scarfed, I mean that Stacy and Clinton did not even have time to show the prospective makeover candidate the visa card before I was done.]

After a quick trip to the post office, and a large dent made in my wallet, I finished my work and snacked on an apple and pb.

Still working on that container of Whole Foods pb from Nashville. That’s like a record or something.

Also a record may be the fact that I did in fact manage to get all my work done today. I was in quite a state in the beginning, so it was quite the miracle.

Home, and then dinner, in that order.

Instead of vegging out, as I was feeling should be the case, I pulled up Biggest Loser on Hulu [since my Tuesday schedule is wacked up I always miss my favorites, AI and BL. 😦 ] and proceeded to do an interval workout while being inspired by people changing their lives. LOVE MIGGY.

I worked out for an hour, doing a combination of weights, cardio and yoga. Twas lovely and I felt like a new person once done. No better way to end a stressful day than with a good workout, eh? [What do I think I am, Canadian, eh?]

Old Man Winter, I am so over you right now. I swear I don’t think it got above 30 today. FAH-REEZING!

Cold cereal did not help my temperature much.

But my tastebuds? They were a-singin’! All Bran + Raisins + Milk + a bowl. That’s all I need in the morning.

I haven’t mentioned this yet, but all last week and yesterday we [my coworkers and I] were busy rearranging and painting my office. It’s such a sunny yellow now and I can enjoy the benefits of all three windows now! Really helps the mood, ya’ll. Now if spring will just hurry along and get here.

Pita wrapped around turkey + cheese + spinach!!!! Delicious does not get this party started. It was purely lunchalicious.

Apples, I have often mentioned do not make a full snack for me. Yet I keep bringing them. Easy, I guess.

Peanuts were had soon after.

Then, Meredith [my new gym partner and middle lady in the photo above!] and I hit the gym. She did a power class, but I am not one to follow the pack, so I did my own weight workout and 20 minutes on the bike. [My calf was catching when I tried the incline on the treadmill. What up wit dat?]

I coerced Mere into dropping me off at the grocery store, and 15 minutes later I was fully restocked. Caramel Oikos, you are mine!

The family was watching ‘American Idol’ when we got home, so as not to miss anything I heated up an Amy’s meal from my impromptu grocery trip.

Yum, yet stanky. The smell of curry permeated the air, and complaints were heard from the peanut gallery.

May not look appetizing, but my tastebuds say otherwise. I ate in front of the tv, so I did not bother to replate for beauty’s sake. Therefore your eyeballs shall be treated to the same sight as mine.

Do you eat in front of the tv or have any other ‘bad’ habits of that nature?

Normally I make a point to eat at the table, but due to CharlotteOne being on Tuesdays I often miss American Idol. I figured I could make an exception this once, especially since I was already eating a frozen meal. I mean, if you are going to be cliché why not go all the way, right?

It was another John Mayer night [ok, I think like one song, but still] at hot yoga tonight! Long, Slow, Deep was on the schedule and long, slow and deep it was. What I love about this class is how long you stay in each pose, so you can keep pushing yourself deeper and deeper. At the beginning and end of class Tanner had us do the same pose [crossed legs, stretching forward] and it was amazing how much further I could go by the end of class!

But in other news, I had a breakfast cookie this morning!

Gina, you are a genius!

So work was, how do you say it? SLOW. Due to the weather [I know 1 inch of snow, right?] no one is working all week but ME and my other little office pal. It’s so chill and relaxed. Chillaxed, if you will.

I have all the time in the world to lounge over lunch whilst watching ‘What Not To Wear’. I should be a fashionista fo’ sho’ as much as I watch that show.

Lunch, of course, was SOUP, because it was in the FRIDGE, so I reheated it.

Oh look! A piece of sausage too!

This was quickly followed up by two cookies delivered by a Windstream salesman, either trying to win my affections or our business. Judging by those cookies, he can have both. [Ha, I kid. I think our phone services are under contract.] Anyway, the cookies were spectacular, yet refused to be photographed. Fuzzy they were.

I continued to plod about my business until my boss finally caught on that I was killing time and let me go home early. 30 minutes, but that makes all the difference in the world, since that is my drive home.

I made a quick pre-yoga snack consisting of what I believe Katie calls a ‘banana hammock’.

Met Haleigh for yoga, and caught up with her life since she is back from Sweden! It was lovely to see her, as always. I swear we could chat for hours, us two.

Hurried home, chatting with Stacey, then Holly on the phone [thank God I don’t live in California] all the way and fed the beast immediately upon arriving.

Question:

Do you plan your meals, or do you fly by the seat of your pants, as I so obviously do?

I can see the bonuses to both, but I would like to be more schedule and meal plan a little better, if just to help with grocery shopping. Tips?

Snow Delay

I was on snow delay today. It was nice to get a few extra hours of shut eye, but even the delay did not give all the ice time to thaw. I slipped and slid down a mountain of ice to get to work today.

All was easy breezy on the main roads though, and I arrived at work safe and sound!

Before the mountain conquering I had toasty breakfast.

I ate breakfast late, so I was not hungry by lunch time. I delayed it a few hours and used my time to catch up on all the work that piled up over the weekend.

Was yum, but maybe a bit too rich? I am not used to eating such rich foods since I have been doing the vegan thing. It was appreciated though. We all can use a little richness in our lives, no?

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

I was not hungry for my snack, since lunch was eaten at snack time [or thereabouts] and I saved my orange for later.

Upon arriving home, I realized I was famished, and without a snack, would not make it through my planned gym workout.

GYM was FABULOUS! [I mean, as fabulous as gym time can be that is.] The only stinky part was; they SOLD my gym, so it is now under new ownership and they are painting everything a YUCKY yellow. I am not a huge fan of yellow, and especially not that shade.

Not any yuck to it at all was my dinner!

YOGA was long slow deep again…told you I am addicted. This is seriously one class I am going to continue to try to take even after my month membership is up. It is so awesomely streeetcchhhy, and I feel like after focusing on running for so many months that my body just needs to streeeetch now.

I devoured one orange and a handful of raisins afterward to keep up my strength. 😉

And now I look back and realize: I have gone a whole day with out eating a single vegetable. How sad. 😦 I might go find a carrot or something to crunch.
