It’s a mango and a banana,

it’s a flattened mango and a flattened banana, in fact.

Looks like a truck ran over those two.

After my snack, I ran 7 miles and then rolled around with my new buddy the foam roller. He and I are getting pretty tight. BFFS.

Dinner brought about the end of my tempeh.

As well as some green beans on their last legs.

And some corn that looks pretty fresh.

Which of these three does not belong?

A bit of a trick question there, eh?

Technically you have two options:

1.) The tempeh, as it is not a veggie.

2.) The corn, because it looks fresh.

Frankly, I don’t really care which one you pick, because I ate every single bite.

In much more interesting news Meredith got a new hair color for fall:

Yep, I have a sister that is a brunette now!

(Also she’s single, guys.)

(As am I.)

On that note, I am going to bed.

Well, maybe not to bed, as it’s early yet.

Who am I kidding?

I am so going to bed.

Day one of No Sweets week down!

Luna + new water bottle = snack.

You’d think that my Luna Bar was the star of this show.

DSCN1840 DSCN1842

But nope, my water bottle was.

  1. It’s my favorite color, black.
  2. It has cute writing on it.
  3. I got it for free.

After work I decided to do some prep for the 5k coming up (less than two weeks!!!) and ran 3 hard and sweaty miles. My new shoes felt l was floating on air. I love that first run in a new pair of shoes. Can’t be beat.

For dinner I had oatmeal (again).

Savory oats minus the eggs and + cheese and spinach.

  • 1/2 cup irish oats
  • 1.5 cups water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • spinach
  • feta cheese
  • pepper jack cheese
  • hot sauce

Cheesy goodness.

dessert was apples and pb.

Even though I was sorely tempted by a package I got in the mail.

What could it be?

The Mango Oatmeal Cookies I won at Shannon’s bake sale came today!

Isn’t it ironic?

It’s like rain on your wedding day. It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid…

It’s cookies on your no sweets week.

Isn’t it ironic…don’t you think?

Did you know today is National Talk Like A Pirate Day?

If you know nothing of talking ‘pirate’, well here are some wonderful instructional videos.

I feel certain ye shall find these very helpful. Or not.

ARRRRRR and a yo ho ho!

In celebration of National Talk Like A Pirate Day, I ran 12 miles this morning. I actually think it was a little longer than that, because I felt more beat after this run than I even began to feel after my half-marathon.

Before my run I had a piece of toast with almond butter.

During my run around miles 5 and 10 I snacked on dried bananas and apricots.

Currently I am icing my knees,

and chilling.

After my icing is done I feel certain that I will shower, but more importantly I am going to get new shoes before I meet the girls for dress shopping.

Have a great day, and don’t forget to Talk Like A Pirate!

PS: You may have noticed a new section on my blog titled ‘Bestes Von’. Supposedly that’s German for ‘Best of’. Don’t ask why I chose German. I just did. Anyway, that’s where you can find the ‘Best of’ WHIT! Go check it out, matey!

I heart Peeled nuts.

Cute names.

It’s all in the marketing. That’s where it’s at people.

Want me to buy something? Give it a cute name, and I will plunk some $$$ down.

No shame. Just the truth.

I also love to add dark chocolate to my nuts. (don’t say it. don’t say it. ok, whatev, I know you want to. TWSS!)

After workie work. I came home, ransomed my iPod back from Mama D. and went for a five mile run. Well it was really about a 4.75 mile run, because Scott drove by with a trailer behind his truck about .25 of a mile before our driveway and offered me a very illegal ride in the trailer. I could not resist such a thing, so I jumped in.

Guess what was waiting on the table with my mail!

La-La-Larabars! And yes, that is a PB&J. I am so uberexcited for it. I bet you it will be making another appearance on here very soon. Very soon.

Maybe tomorrow, even.

Mama D. cooked the best dinner. I think she was feeling bad for ransoming my iPod. Or not. Apparently I should not leave my possessions lying about the house. WHAT?!?!

I had.

Fluffy roll.

Greeny beanys.

Spaghetti + black beans = genius!

This was. SO.GOOD.

Mama D’s flowers are also SO.BEAUTIFUL.

And coming out our ears.

She had literal BUCKETS of flowers in the kitchen.

Ok, I am off to watch some online tv aka catch The Biggest Loser on Hulu. Unplugging is over. I am back to my electronically addicted self.

Lara bars make me smile.

‘Specially the ones with ‘cookie’ on the end. Love.

You know what else makes me smile?

You guys.

When I posted I was considering running 7 miles and needed some encouragement, your comments were awesome. They kept me pumped the entire run, which was a pretty nice 7 miles, despite my ankles hurting towards the end. I really need new shoes. Gonna have to budget for those.

I must say the comment that really made me say ‘I’m going to do it’ was from Chandra.

She said:

Do it, do it, do it!!! I’m going to attempt 4-5 miles with hopes that my chest congestion clears up this afternoon and lets me breathe.. So do it for me in case I can’t!! 😉

That really hit home for me. I run because I love to run, but some days it’s all I can do to make myself hit the pavement. Her comment made me think about my dearest uncle. He is in a wheelchair. Has been since a car accident when he was sixteen years old. What I take for granted; running down the street is something that he would love to be able to do just one more time. When I run my marathon, it’s going to be for my uncle. I will never take my running for granted because of him. In just an instant, it can all be gone.

What if I couldn’t run? That’s why I ran today.

If you are a runner, why do you run?

For my after run fuel I had a bean ‘burrito’.

  • refried beans
  • jalapenos
  • taco sauce
  • cheese
  • romaine leaf

And some hummus + corn chile dip with blue chippers on the side.

I just love romaine ‘tacos’ and ‘burritos’.

Dessert was banana soft serve topped with an almond butter mix and marshmallows.

I know, the marshmallows kind of ruin the whole healthy effect I was going for with the banana soft serve. Ah well, it was a substitution for my beloved coconut, which we were out of, strangely. 😉

Chocolate Almond Butter ‘syrup’

  • 1 spoonful almond butter
  • cocoa
  • vanilla
  • dash of honey
  • dash of almond milk

Stir, stir, stir and pour over your frozen good of choice.

After polishing off that bowl of heaven, I did some baking. YUM. You shall have to wait and see what it was.

Or I could tell you.

Just a hint, then.

Chocolate + zucchini.

I did a wonderful 10 mile run after work today. Seriously, this may have been the best 10 miler of my entire running career. The weather was perfect, my pace was perfect, everything was just great. I am so glad that I have my long run behind me for the week, because Saturday is looking busy, busy, busy.

This afternoon I had a snack of yogurt+granola.

I forgot what a great snack yogurt makes. I will have to do this more often.

On my run I also had some apricots at the 7 mile mark. I discovered that in lieu of gummy bears, dried fruit will do as a pick me up. Fueling during long runs is really key to a good run I think. I just started, and really my runs have been better and better.

After my run I made a quick meal of toast topped with pb+honey,

and a bowl of strawberries and coconut on the side.

The strawberries and coconut worked really well together for the perfect fruit salad.

Does this photo look blurry to you? It’s like the toast is hiding. Oh toast, come out and show yourself.

Don’t be so shy.

As well as doing 10 miles on the 10th, I did Level 1 of the shred on the 10th. I am glad it is the last day of Level one. All those push ups are getting tiring. I am excited for Level two tomorrow. I think Level three is my favorite, but Level two will do for a change.

Romans 12:21 (MSG)

Our Scriptures tell us that if you see your enemy hungry, go buy that person lunch, or if he’s thirsty, get him a drink. Your generosity will surprise him with goodness. Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good.

I read this verse today when I was feeling a little controversial. It really helped me see that the devil was trying to get me down. I just repeated, ‘don’t let evil get the best of you’ in my head so that I could get my focus back. Sometimes no matter how hard we try, the devil will sneak in and trick us into arguments, disagreements and controversy. Don’t let him get the best of you. Kick that old bully to the curb. Remember, God is love, and love is the answer to ALL things.

Have a lovely evening my friends!

Here we have:

the end of grocery run snack. A kiwi and a few dark chocolate edamame.

I must say it was quite pleasant, as was the rest of my afternoon. I came home and ran 5 miles with my new Camelbak to ‘test it out’. Me like. Me like lots.

Before I left on my run, I had a piece of toast with peanut butter.

My stomach was grumbly, so I figured the smart thing to do was to answer it’s demands. I proved to be right in thinking that.

After my DELICIOUS run, I had a dinner of veggie pasta.

It consisted of:

  • whole wheat noodles
  • peppers
  • mushrooms
  • celery
  • eggplant

Very yum.

I followed the pasta up with a baggie of dried apples.

These apples are INSANELY good. I will be buying an entire box of these next time I place an order. That’s a promise.

I finished up my evening with Level 1 of the 30 day shred. Day 8 and still going strong. Having a partner certainly helps!

Now I am off to soak in a warm bubble bath with a good book. Ah, my favorite pastime.
