I conquered a new distance, 15 miles is MINE babay!!!!

The whole time, I just kept thinking of all you guys and your wonderful, encouraging comments.

I thought of Chandra, who ran her first marathon today.

I thought of Holly who ran her first marathon two weeks ago today.

And Val who ran her THIRD marathon last week.

I look up to all these ladies, and consider them kind of ‘superheroes’ ‘cause they’ve all done what is my ultimate goal. To run the marathon.

I still can’t believe that in less than two months I will be running my own marathon, but then yesterday 15 miles was just a possibility. Today I made that a reality.

Thank you guys so much for believing in me!

I know I didn’t post all my meals yesterday, but they were kind of boring as my appetite is still not quite on par yet.

I did consume this gawjuss ice cream cone, so I of course had to share a pic.

Fudge Ripple + Mint Choc Chip + Ice Cream Sandwich

Isn’t that just beautiful? All those lovely flavors.

This morning dawned bright, cold and sunshiny.

I figured oat bran was called for.

And of course coffee on the side flavored with Mama D’s own Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer.

‘Twas a lovely breakfast.

As I mentioned previously it was gorgeously sunshiny for the FIRST time ALL WEEK this morning.

Um, that lasted until I got out of church.

Really? Really?

So my run was enjoyed under a nice threatening bank of clouds that looked like they could at any time. But they didn’t and all was well.

Wanna see my before/after run treat?

I stopped at the gas station to pick up a Gatorade for my run and these babies caught my eye. I figured them for a nice ‘treat’ so I picked them up as well. They were a lovely addition to my day.

I can’t wait to pick out my 17 miler ‘treat’.

In other exciting news I booked a Thanksgiving trip this morning. To NASHVILLE! I haven’t ever been and the sisters and I think it shall be quite fun. We’re going to be in Nashville the 26th through the 29th, so if you’re in the area and want to meet up or just have some suggestions for fun things to do, let me know!

Now I’m off to Ice, Ice, Baby and carve some PUMPKINS. My absolute favorite part of Halloween.

I must confess, when eating dinner last night I did not think it was enough to hold me over until the morning, and low and behold it was not. It was all my stomach could handle at the time, but come 11 pm, I was scouring the cabinets. I had a piece of bread, some dry cereal and some peanut butter. Jillian Michaels would not have been proud of me, having all those carbs before bed.

Ah well, what’s a girl to do? Go to bed hungry? Not this one, especially after running 10 miles!

This morning, I tried yet another first for breakfast.

Oat bran!

Not just any old oat bran either.

Green oat bran.

I made it the same way I saw Kelly do a few weeks ago.

In the Vitamix I pureed spinach, a banana and 1/3 a cup of almond milk. I poured that into a pot, and added 1/3 cup of oat bran. The verdict? I really, really like green oats and oat bran! It tasted like a green monster, but warm and oaty. I foresee this being a good winter staple, nice for a cold morning.

I topped my green oats with strawberries, almond butter and coconut. YUM.

Another plus about this breakfast, was that it held me for a loooong time. A long, long time.

When I finally got hungry, I met Meredith and some of our married and motherly friends for lunch at Panera.

Isn’t baby Brooklyn just the cutest?

After oohing and ahhhing over the general cuteness of the offspring of our pals, I got down to bizness.

A classic salad, apple and half a tomato mozzarella panini.

Seriously if you haven’t tried this sandwich, what are you waiting for?

It’s just the best thing since sliced bread.

I would say the same about the salad, but as you can see it had those wonky greens that no one likes.

I’ll take the lettuce and leave the wiry stuff for someone else. Thanks!

Lest I forget, it’s Friday.

Yep. Cookie Friday.

I enjoyed every single morsel of this decadent thing.

After lunch, I ran some errands that included the post office, and now I had better get to work, so I can leave this place at a reasonable hour.

This evening I am:

  • 30 day shredding
  • dinner at my madre’s church
  • getting together with some old friends

Should be fun!

9.11.09. What were you doing eight years ago?

I was babysitting, I recall just sitting in shock at what was happening to my country.
